As the temperature drops and Christmas day looms, you've probably been thinking about the holiday dishes you'll be making to impress friends and family. Recipes for Christmas Dinner

Christmas dinner is a special meal, so it deserves unique recipes. Here are some of our favourite recipes for Christmas dinner.

The main dish is often the star of Christmas dinner, so make sure it's something special. Roasted beef with gravy of red wine is a delicious and easy-to-make option that will have your guests asking for seconds. For something a little different, try Rack of lamb with mint jelly. It's a bit more elegant but just as tasty.

No Christmas dinner would be complete without potatoes. Roasted Yukon gold potatoes are simple but delicious, and mashed sweet potatoes with honey and cinnamon are always a hit.

Remember the vegetables! Green beans with bacon and onions are a classic side dish that goes with everything, or tries something new with our roasted Brussels sprouts with balsamic vinegar. Here are some essential easy-to-make recipes to assist you to step by step.

1. Roast Beef Recipe

Ingredients:

1. 1 (5-pound) beef roast
2. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3. Two tablespoons of olive oil
4. One onion, chopped
5. Three cloves garlic, minced
6. 1/2 cup red wine
7. 1 cup beef broth
8. One tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
9. One tablespoon of Dijon mustard
10. One teaspoon of dried thyme.

11. 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

Place roast in a roasting pan. Rub flour into the surface of the roast. Using a large pan over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add wine and beef broth; bring to a boil. Pour over roast. Spread Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, and pepper over the top of the roast.

Roast for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the roast crosses 145 degrees Fahrenheit, in the preheated oven (63 degrees C). Before slicing, remove from oven and allow stand for 10 minutes.

2. Rack of Lamb Recipe

Ingredients:

1. 4 (12-ounce) racks of lamb, trimmed
2. Three tablespoons olive oil, divided
3. One teaspoon salt divided
4. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
5. Two cloves garlic, minced
6. 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves

7. 1/4 cup red currant jelly

Directions:

Rub one tablespoon of olive oil over the surface of each Rack of lamb. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper over the racks. Over medium heat, warm 2 tablespoons full of of olive oil in a large oven-safe pan. Add the racks of lamb and cook until browned, about 3 minutes per side. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.

Mix garlic, mint, red currant jelly, one tablespoon olive oil, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper together in a small bowl. Spread mint mixture over the racks of lamb.

Place pan with lamb in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer pushed into the centre of the meat registers 135 degrees F (57 degrees C). Remove chops from oven and let to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

3. Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients:

1. Two pounds Yukon potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
2. Three tablespoons olive oil
3. One teaspoon salt
4. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

5. 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions:

In a large bowl, toss Yukon gold potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Pour potatoes onto a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until and unless potatoes are edible and golden brown, about 30 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle with parsley before serving.
